Why do new ETF managers launch just one product at a time?

2 new entrants to the European ETF market, each with a different launch strategy.

Robeco will launch five products, Jupiter Asset Management will launch one.

Each approach says a lot about their aspirations

I just do not understand why new entrants continue to pursue the strategy of launching a single product at a time.

It's really underwhelming and doesn't exactly create a picture of "we mean business here".

In fact it comes across more like "let's dip our toe in the water and see how it goes".

If you are a client, this feels more like a "so what" moment.

Of course the reason given is always the same, launching one product reduces the operational risk. Hmmm.

New entrants who continue to follow this approach are really missing out on a marketing and PR opportunity.

It's a crowded space, playing it safe will not get you noticed. Just look what happened to Abrdn

If you are serious about growing an ETF business then go big or go home, just like Robeco is doing.
