Highlights
It's now about 26 hours later...and I'm just now beginning to collect my thoughts on the phone call I received from my wife Heather Redisch from a random phone number telling me she was running from the parade with my 7 year old daughter and that there was a mass shooting and I needed to come get them immediately. She was 15 yards away from the center of abject horror when she grabbed our daughter as if she was a football and ran to apparent safety. I'm beyond grateful that they are both OK and that my wife and daughter are real life superheroes...My 7 year old daughter had the presence to tell her mother, "don't worry Mommy, we'll be Ok. My teacher taught me about this in school, as long as we run we'll be OK."
That said, my emotions of relief are now matched with that of anger. The collective cowardice of our congress and senate at the national level is appauling and leaves many feeling helpless and hopeless.
I truly wish that these national officials could even summon 1% of the courage and bravery my daughter has...Our children can't even enjoy a parade, movie, or even school without knowing where the nearest exits are. Save your thoughts and prayers, I'm not interested. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS and the time has come to FIX A FRACTURED SOCIETY.
