Highlights
The #CommerceNext keynote speech this morning did not disappoint! Doug Mack described his incredible career, going from a successful software entrepreneur to highly successful retailer — in particular taking a relatively unknown brand named Fanatics from $800 million in sales and growing it into a globally renowned sports phenomenon with more than $8 billion in sales.
Lots of great points in the talk. A repeated theme was how essential strong and differentiated merchandising is for growth, but that that this needs to have a solid foundation of operation and technology to yield consistent and durable growth.
Really looking forward to the CommerceNext conference starting tomorrow in NYC.
What am I excited about?
Well, opening day starts off with a keynote by the brilliant Doug Mack and moderated by the incomparable Elaine Rubin — two legends in the industry talking about the incredible success of Fanatics.
At the end of day one, my colleague Ranjana Sharma will be talking with Vanessa Marko of Harry Rosen, a very forward thinking luxury retailer, about efficiency as a superpower — an important topic especially relevant as retailers struggle with both profits and growth.
And, ultimately, I’m excited to see so many colleagues and friends in this great industry!
It promises to be a fun, inspiring conference!
