I am honored to share that my hometown library has acquired my father’s books on the Holocaust thanks to the efforts of the Columbia Holocaust Education Commission. The books spent many years lining the walls of my parents’ home. My father could tell you details about each and he enthusiastically kept one or two or ten by his side at all times. So many incredible writers and artists. He would say that the books are important not only because they are history books, but because of what they show of our humanity in daily life: the good and the bad. The books are a testament to those who faced unparalleled evil in the very recent and yet seemingly fading past. They remind us to be diligent in confronting evil today. Grateful to #RichlandLibrary for making a place where the lesson lives on.
