That is one of my favorite Ray Charles quotes and one that will now adorn a wall on The Ray Charles Terrace at the GRAMMY Museum. I think it embodies who he was, an artist who made music that inarguably was beyond great. Like the artist himself, his music is iconic!
This gift from the Ray Charles Foundation is the largest single gift in the museum's history and one of the proudest moments of my tenure at The GRAMMY Museum. I cannot thank Valerie Ervin and the Foundation enough for entrusting us with such an investment, one that will impact countless young people across the country through our music education programs!
