Highlights
I am very pleased to have been nominated for the Distinguished Teaching Award 2017–2018 at The New School, Parsons School of Design. Faculty members are nominated by their students and colleagues as Distinguished University Teachers, and who embody the highest standards for teaching and advancing The New School’s mission and vision to inspire critical engagement with ideas and the world. This year I was part of a group of 42 candidates out of over 2,000 teachers at the university.
Parsons—just named the best art and design school in the country in 2018—is an extraordinary place of creative and inquisitive learning and over the last 14 years I have met and taught so many incredible and talented students that have continuously inspired me to become a better teacher. I can’t be happier to be part of the school’s community as Assistant Professor teaching typography in the Communications Design program and before that in the Photography program. And the saying is definitely true: You learn the most when you teach. To all my students and colleagues, thank you so much.
