Have you ever sat down and thought about your abilities, talents, accomplishments and failures? I have and they remind me of why I am the second best sales person on earth. Because I haven't met the best yet.

Have you ever been on an interview, followed up on multiple occasions and never heard a word back? Take it a step further. Have you travelled on an airplane, to a different state, interviewed, did your due diligence and never heard a word back? When I say due diligence, I mean send a thank you email, make multiple phone calls and hear crickets.

This happened to me years ago and it still bothers me. I didn't interview with HR, Mid Level Management or a team, I interviewed with THE guy. Was it that he was too busy to call me back, didn't like me or didn't have the balls to tell me I wouldn't fit their culture? Who knows, I never heard back.

I have had the opportunity to work with many people during my career. I think I have been fair with every one of them and have always had respect for them. When the tough conversations happened, I believe my reports understood, even though we might not have agreed with the situation. Point is, we had the conversation.

I have made my mistakes in the past when dealing with employees and have altered my decisions when I determined I was wrong. I don't only serve my company, I serve my reports. I am a servant leader. I owe employees and prospective employees answers!

I am not, nor have I ever been perfect. I have made mistakes in the past and learn from them. Luckily, the majority of the people I truly know as contacts, understand this. There are a few however, who have a lot to learn. You know who you are.

In closing, help me understand if and how I have ever wronged you. It will make me a better leader.
