Miguel Fontes is a professional with a background in Sociology and Business Management.

His career started in 1994 as a researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon.

He served as an advisor in the Prime Minister's Office from 1995 to 1997, focusing on Social Affairs.

During this time, he participated in various committees such as the Commission for the Reform of the Law on Religious Freedom.

From 1997 to 2002, he held positions in the XIII and XIV Constitutional Governments as the Secretary of State for Youth.

In that role, he also served as Vice-President and President of the Ibero-American Youth Organization and Secretary-General of the 1st World Youth Ministers Conference under the United Nations.

Since 2002, Miguel has been active as a manager and administrator in both private and state-owned enterprises.

He has held managerial positions in companies like MRB Holding, MRB Promoção Imobiliária, Somalfa - Gestão e Investimentos Imobiliários, and worked as a non-executive director at Leisurecorp.

From 2010 to 2015, he was an Executive Administrator at Aicep Global Parques.

Miguel is also affiliated with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, where he worked in Entrepreneurship and Social Economy as well as Quality and Innovation departments.

Since January 2016, he has been the Executive Director of Startup Lisboa, overseeing the conception, implementation, and management of the Beato Creative Hub.
