Mikael Hanson is the Head Cycling Coach at Columbia University in the City of New York. He is a highly qualified coach, certified by both USA Cycling and USA Triathlon. His coaching career includes leadership roles at various institutions, such as Asphalt Green and Cadence Cycling and Multisport, and he has also coached the New York University Cycling team, which won its first conference championship in 2015 .12

Hanson has an extensive background in endurance sports. He is an accomplished athlete himself, competing in numerous duathlons, triathlons, bike races, and running events. Notably, he represented Team USA at the World Duathlon Championships in 2007, 2009, 2013, and 2015 .12 His coaching philosophy emphasizes working with athletes of all levels, from beginners to national champions .13

Originally from Wisconsin, Hanson holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business. Before dedicating himself to coaching full-time in 2004, he spent nearly 15 years working on Wall Street .123 Currently, he resides in New York City with his wife and son.
