Highlights
This past weekend I showed my work at the the Ceramic Showcase in the Oregon Convention Center. I had so many amazing experiences, and I loved sharing my craft with the community!
It was such a busy market, full of so many interactions with both the other clay artists and with the many shoppers, I barely found the time to post content!
So after a day of unloading and unwinding, I figured I would take some time to share with you all some of the content I took and some words about some exciting outcomes from this event.
One of the more exciting things was having a few small galleries and businesses approach me about holding my work. I also had a local market manager and a customer encourage me to apply to two separate markets that I'll be looking into. I hope I'm able to update you all regarding the galleries and markets in the near future!
Something that pleasantly surprised me was how many potters admired my work and told me how difficult throwing with marbled clay has been for them. I was so happy to share what I have learned over the last 2 years that I've been fine-tuning my marbling process, and I'm looking forward to the new excitement I have regarding my process and what will come from it.
Another very exciting revelation happened when two separate groups of customers informed me of how similar my process and work is to the renowned Japanese pottery technique "neriage". This was such an amazing thing to discover after working with this style for the past few years. I'm excited to dive a bit deeper into learning about the neriage technique, and I'm very interested to see how this will inspire my work moving forward.
Overall, it was very affirming to have my work be so well received by the community at this market.
In the next week or so I hope to be updating my website with new works shown at the showcase, and with quite a bit of work that was not up to the showcase standards, so be on the lookout for when my new listings are posted!
Thanks to those who stopped by my booth, I loved talking with you all about my process.
And of course, a sincere thank you to those of you who took my work home! It truly l means the world to me to be an artist and share my work with you all.
