20 Years – Thank You!

This is a milestone month for Ability Resourcing. Who’d have thought when we first set out on this journey 20 years ago in a small office above the TVR garage in Stansted Mountfitchet we’d have achieved all we have in the last 20 years. This is a post to just mark this day and say thank you to everyone we’ve engaged with during this time.

I rarely contribute on Linkedin, partly down to my now old-fashioned view that good recruiters should be effective and not heard. However, there’s always space to say thank you. There’s so many people to thank, in particular those who have worked with me on this journey past and present (Dan Silk, Lara Colussi, Lukas Schneider, Tatiana Grauwiler, Giles Dovaston, Virginia Bencivenga, Matea Baric, Adam Southgate, Chris Jacobs, Elena P.). Thank you all for your time, dedication, support, honesty and energy – I’ve been blessed that all of you took the leap of faith at some point to join us on our journey.

The loose plan when I started was to work with early-stage startup founders and help them grow and succeed. Throughout the last 20 years we’ve stayed true to this mission and have contributed to some real successes. The early days saw Datanomic exit to Oracle, Envisional Limited to Group NBT, Touch Clarity to Omniture (then Adobe). In 2010 we embedded ourselves to work in-situ with the founders and helped SwiftKey scale (Microsoft), Deepmind Technologies (Google DeepMind). We’ve seen further acquisitions to the likes of Meta and IPO’s. We continue to help AI led, deep-tech startups build out their core teams. The amazing team we helped build at BenevolentAI are now making huge contributions across the AI Drug discovery field.

Our approach has always been transparent, honest, hardworking, do the right thing, support our customers both clients and candidates alike. We have supported some of the most impressive individuals our industry has to offer and had the support of several who have been amazing advocates for our services. We’ve been able to build and grow our business through trust, recommendation and referral. We are truly grateful for the support we’ve received.

I’d like to also thank our wider network of suppliers and service providers who we have engaged with over the years to facilitate scaling for our customers. Our trusted recruitment partners out there (you know who you are), property consultants, HR Consultancies, Investors. Scaling early-stage startups is hard work and requires lots of people pulling in the same direction to achieve success.

Finally, I’d like to thank our customers who we’ve enjoyed help build their businesses, assist them in their careers. Many of which we’ve helped multiple times and have become friends and strong advocates of Ability Resourcing.

We continue to leverage our rich experience and networks for the current generation of founders and help them build for the future.

Thanks Mike Burgoine
