This was Anomaly's 31st Super Bowl commercial in the last 12 years. I don't say that as any sort of flex but more as a testament to the resolve and focus you need when the pressure is great. You think about the money spent and the responsibility you have to your brand and your clients to serve up something memorable that connects those gazillion people to your brand. The athlete in me loves it. And we really don't get to commiserate with one another on the field after the game but I do think about the other agencies and marketers dealing with the same pressures and realities. And then it's over and it's Monday morning. The cursor blinks staring back at you. And all you can do is focus on what's next, what's in front of you. Thinking of all the wonderful possibilities out there. Damn, I love this business.

In chess, there is implicit power behind the first and most consequential rule: white goes first. This means white gets a leg up on the game commonly referred to as the “first move advantage.” This rule also represents the unconscious bias and unwritten (and sometimes written) rules in society that directly oppresses and suppresses the Black community.

Introducing Black Goes First. @BlackGoesFirst is a project whose goal is to inspire Black youth to achieve success in chess, and raise awareness about unconscious bias. They’re auctioning off a custom chess board, signed by some of the biggest names in music, culture and chess. Bid on the board at BlackGoesFirst.com. All profits from the auction go to support the Detroit City Chess Club (@detchess). #BlackGoesFirst@Anomaly
