Highlights
Ok, here we go…
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer in July 2022. In August I had surgery to remove the cancerous cells, and in September 2022 I started a six month chemotherapy regimen. I’m incredibly happy to report that I am finished with the chemo & that my current scans are all clear. Things look good now, and I’ll be getting regular scans to make sure everything continues to look good.
Please please please - if you are putting off a doctor's visit, pick up the phone & schedule it right now. I was not feeling any symptoms at all, but normal preventative screening was able to catch it early. My doctor said if we were finding this 18 months from now, it would be a very different conversation. Get screened.
Special thanks to the amazing doctors & nurses at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. And a huge shoutout to Cologuard, a product that literally saved my life.
Here’s a picture of my kids, because at the end of the day, the people you love are all that matter.
tl; dr - If you're a data provider or data professional, don't ever put the word "spy" anywhere, ever. Client email, internal chat, nowhere. Never ever.
Sharing this relatively benign email I got today from a well-known data service provider. Access to data is a privilege, and one that needs to be taken seriously.
I know, it's just a marketing email, lighten up, etc. I'm the first one to make jokes, but for some reason the email subject did not sit right with me.
Be open and excited about the data you are lucky enough to work with, and do so in a professional manner internally & externally.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
