Mike Lawson is a seasoned professional with a strong background in publishing nonfiction how-to books and videos, specializing in media creation, audio engineering, music technology education, business management, acquisitions, and divestitures.

His expertise lies in conceiving and executing sales and marketing strategies targeted at the educational, professional, and hobbyist music recording industry.

Throughout his career, Mike Lawson has been instrumental in various significant ventures such as creating Gibson Guitar's digital marketing department, launching MixBooks and other imprints with MIX Magazine, and forming ArtistPro Publishing after acquiring the book business in 2000.

Having worked with reputable organizations like Hal Leonard Corp., Alfred Publishing, Thomas Nelson Publishers, and Thomson Learning, Mike Lawson has acquired, developed, and edited numerous titles in the music and media industry, demonstrating his leadership and vision.

Currently, Mike Lawson holds the position of Editor at SBO and CD magazines, along with serving as the Executive Director of Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI), showcasing his continued commitment to the field.

Aside from his professional endeavors, Mike is an accomplished musician, performing guitar and vocals in tribute shows dedicated to Merl Saunders and Jerry Garcia.
