Mike Nichol

Associate Vice Provost for Online Education at University of Southern California

Mike Nichol, a distinguished Professor of Public Policy, and Director of the Graduate Health Programs at the Sol Price School of Public Policy, is an expert in health policy and health economics. Holding an appointment at the Andrus School of Gerontology, he has made significant contributions to the field through his research on pharmaceutical interventions cost-effectiveness, health care cost and resource utilization, medication persistency, and health utility measurement.

With a rich academic background, Professor Nichol has served as the President of the University of Southern California faculty and has an extensive consulting experience with renowned organizations like Amgen, Glaxo SmithKline, Pfizer, and Novartis. Before his academic tenure, he held key positions in health policy organizations, such as the executive director of the Western Oregon Health Systems Agency and planner at the Oregon State Health Planning Agency.

Dedicated to advancing the understanding of cost-effectiveness, health state utility, and health care cost and utilization measurement, Professor Nichol's educational journey includes a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Oregon, and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Tulsa.
