Mike Porath is the Founder and CEO of The Mighty, the world's largest health community. He founded the company in March 2014 with the goal of empowering and connecting people facing health challenges and disabilities.12
Prior to founding The Mighty, Porath had an extensive career in journalism and media:
- He held executive positions at AOL News (Editor-in-Chief) and SpinMedia (EVP, Programming).1
- He worked as a homepage editor for The New York Times and as a senior producer for MSNBC.com and NBC News.1
- He also had roles as a producer and correspondent for ABC News.1
Porath's motivation to create The Mighty stemmed from personal experience. In 2009, he and his wife learned that their two-year-old daughter had a rare chromosome disorder, which led him to seek information and support online.3 This experience inspired him to create a platform where people could connect and share stories about health challenges.
Under Porath's leadership, The Mighty has grown significantly:
- It now has over 3.5 million registered users.4
- The platform covers more than 700 health conditions.5
- It operates in over 70 languages.3
For his work with The Mighty, Porath has received recognition:
