In my off time I've been putting together jams using only sounds I design and/or instruments I play. I like this one!

Flash back to May 2018:
I debuted Song of the Sea, a symphonic-length work for horn, cello, and designed sound, that I wrote and produced as part of my residency at the Queens Museum. I was inspired to create this piece after a presentation I saw at a National Park about the impact of climate change on coral reefs.
I tried to help the listener have an emotional connection to this usually unseen world—and to raise awareness of the critical state our ocean ecosystems are in. For the performance, I was lucky to have the exceptionally-talented Meaghan Burke on cello. She crushed it. And she also composes and performs really cool music and original songs of her own. Go listen! @meggocello
This was a big moment for me, professionally and personally. When you're creating, it's easy to feel like you're just sending stuff out into the void. Not only that, I had left a relatively safe job to go fully freelance and was in the midst of some very lean years. This residency was the lifeline and confidence boost I needed. Not to mention, here was an opportunity to share new original work with a live audience in an amazing space. Oh and also…$$$!
Now, a few years and a couple of kids later, things are going pretty well. But I still think about this day all the time.
The residency was sponsored by Exploring the Metropolis and ConEd.
