As we navigate the uncertainties of the future, valid concerns abound. From imminent global challenges like climate change to the potential risks associated with advancing AI technology, the weight of responsibility falls upon entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, businesses, and consumers alike to make the right decisions.

Throughout the ages, our ability to reinvent ourselves and devise innovative solutions has been the cornerstone of our success. Technology has played an instrumental role in driving this transformation, and it continues to be a driving force for change.

While remaining cognizant of the known and unknown challenges ahead, I've gathered optimistic insights from tech investors. Many thanks Deep Nishar, General Catalyst, Georgia Stevenson, Index Ventures, Wes N., March Capital, Reem Mobassaleh Wyndham, Pact, Mathilda Bosch, Steve Burtt, Michael Tefula, Franco Danesi, Korelya Capital for sharing your thoughts! My new article for Forbes is about investing in the private markets.

Despite a few turbulent quarters, the private markets have an enduring appeal. Sophisticated endowment funds like Yale’s and Harvard’s have long valued the private markets for their multi-generational return potential and diversifying power. More recently, this model has inspired private investors — especially family offices and exited tech entrepreneurs without pressing liquidity needs — to increase their allocations to the space.

Beyond return profiles and diversification benefits, there’s also the more qualitative appeal of having a stake in building the future. This tends to resonate well with private investors and is most seen at play through their investments across venture capital, growth equity and buyout strategies.

Navigating the VC and PE world is far from straightforward. Here's a preview of 5 key principles to consider:

🔎 Find the needle, but pick the right haystack 🚪 Buyers beware: the art is in the access 🏗 Portfolio construction with and within private markets: more than just 60/40 ⏳ Timeline: it’s a marathon, not a sprint ⚖ Balancing the Scales: alignment of interests
