We are so excited to welcome Chirali Patel to The Authentic Asian community!
Chirali's full bio:
After a dedicated career in public service working for local government entities, Chirali Patel entered private practice taking on Big Pharma in the In Re National Prescription Opiate Litigation and complex class action and multi-district litigation. She was appointed in a leadership position in In re Elmiron as a member of one of the most arguably diverse plaintiff’s steering committees. In re: Takata Airbag Products Liability Litigation and In re: Mercedes-Benz Emissions Litigation are other examples of prolific cases Chirali had the opportunity to work on.
Chirali launched her own law practice, Blaze Law Firm LLC, where she represents licensed operators and entrepreneurs seeking to enter the legal cannabis industry in New Jersey. She built in social equity giveback from Day 1 by working pro bono with select applicants who were incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses and have been underserved.
As an advocate, she was the South Asian liaison for NJ CAN 2020, the successful legalization campaign led by the ACLU-NJ. In 2019, she created Blaze Responsibly, a brand aiming to educate and empower cannabis leaders. Through this company, she hosts free expungement clinics and provides resources statewide in partnership with cannabis companies.
Chirali became an adjunct professor at Rutgers Law School, where she offered her expertise in developing and teaching the inaugural Cannabis Law & Business Certificate. She was also named in the National Law Journal Cannabis Law Trailblazers and was awarded the Community Game Changer award by New Jersey Cannabis Insider.
Chirali decided to join TAA to connect with and learn from like-minded women. She’s excited to be part of a community of successful women who may have faced similar bias but persevered to the top of their respective fields.

We are so excited to welcome Sophie Lu-Axelsson to The Authentic Asian community!
Sophie's full bio:
Sophie Lu-Axelsson is Canadian-born-Chinese and is based in Stockholm, Sweden (land of Ikea, Volvo, Spotify, ABBA...).
Sophie is the CEO of Swedish Care International and a Board Member at the Forum For Elderly Care - both organizations that work closely with Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden's projects to lift the awareness and understanding of dignified neurocognitive (dementia) care in communities, most known for two major undertakings - the annual Queen Silvia Nursing Award and Dementia Forum X.
Sophie has long been engaged in societal issues from lifelong learning and education to climate change & CO2 emission strategies, supply chain rights and responsibilities, and now health and social care challenges.
The thrill in untangling these challenges is what keeps Sophie going. She thrives off of the opportunity to get cross-disciplinary collaborations and exchange off the ground.
In the last few years, Sophie has found herself untethered from her fundamental values, and ultimately who she is. Sophie lost a number of strong, supportive Asian (North) American Women voices in her life, and is thankful to have found a support network with TAA.
Sophie has been enjoying the opportunity to explore all of the offers from TAA so far and has signed up for a number of events and hopes to connect with many of the women in the community!
