Highlights
Another interesting update and success story from MDRD on how it is scaling up its work on agriculture market transformation in Tajikistan. This initative is also a good example in how MDRD is collaborating with another USAID Feed the Future Agriculture and Land Governance (ALG) activity to generate greater inclusive impact.

USAID ACDI/VOCA
Limited mechanization and shortage of farm labor acutely hampers agriculture sector performance in Tajikistan. To address this, MDRD an initiative supported by USAID and implemented by ACDI/VOCA to transform agriculture markets has formed a partnership with Agralis GmbH to provide a rental service for German made CLAAS tractors and farm implements making it more accessible and affordable for farmers in Tajikistan. This week, the service was launched officially in Hisor district of Tajikistan. USAID Mission Director, Agralis representative and Government officials attended the event. Sylvia Megret, the President and CEO of ACDI/VOCA who is on a weeklong visit to the country also spoke on the occasion. Farmers were excited knowing about this service and requests have already been received for land preparation for around 70 Ha. Potential interests are emerging in linking such services with financial institutions to increase access even more.
