Highlights
Banks #grow by 35% annually on an average & some banks grow even exceeding 50% #profit_margin while the #businesses grow by 5 to 15% on an average in India. If we consider the #inflation which is 5 to 6 percent then the #compensation from bank in terms of 3 to 5% profit in terms of interest is not very #sound. As the #risk is high since only 5 lakhs are ensured if the bank shuts down anything above an #emergency_amount is a major risk than any other investments.
I am investing in #stocks since few years & if we see those who made big, they somehow invested in a Company which fetched #multibagger returns 50% or many times more. On the other hand, #real_estate investments give a return of 7 to 10% annually. If we buy #land which has #strategic_advantage & can grow 20% or more annually, then only we should invest at an early age, otherwise wait till few years before retirement at 60 years, considering the average lifespan is 60 to 70 years as Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) lived for 63 years, Prophet Moses (Peace Be Upon Him) is said to live for 120 years while Prophet Jesus (PBUH) lived for 33 years here on earth before he was taken up. As far as I remember banks have existed even at the time of Prophet Abraham (PBUH) who is said to have lived 175 years. Investments have better chance of growth based on time. If we live longer, we will have more growth prospect for compounding effect.
Recently, I heard #RBI was concerned with the drop in bank deposits & although I don't wish bad for the Country, I felt happy for the #citizens, because all other #investments provided more #returns than bank. I think a #major_competitor (& by competitor I don't mean to walk on it's footsteps) to the whole World today are not Countries in the West or East, but banks & we have to beat banks in terms of #productivity & #profitability & if our growth is not above that of what banks are earning we are not utilizing our mind, body, spirit & resources in the best possible way. 😃
Earthquake effect on Steel, Timber, Concrete & Brick Buildings demonstrated in this YouTube video.
Steel being lighter than concrete, more number of floors can be accomodated with the same foundation as compared to RCC building. When designing foundation we should always consider adding 20 to 50 percent stronger foundation because as time progresses buildings have gone vertically upwards rather than horizontally at prime locations. So, if foundations are stronger, one can add extra 3 floors to the 7 floors building later on after 5 to 10 years with ease.
