Highlights
I'm trying to get better about sharing things I'm proud of so here goes!
Today marks three years since my first day at MSNBC. In Feb. 2021, I joined as a platforms editor and quickly became the digital team's first engagement editor. Earlier this year, I was promoted to manage MSNBC.com's newsletter portfolio and more formally think about how to reach new audiences. (I just launched MSNBC's first Whatsapp channel. Look us up and follow along!)
So many people have helped me work on some of my all-time favorite projects so far. If I've worked with you and you see this, please read this anniversary message as a thank you note. You're the best.
Here's a (not-so) quick three-year summary:
-
I've worked across a wide swath of digital platforms and learned how to strategize across each of them. From curating MSNBC's powerful homepage, sending breaking news alerts, helping manage our social media accounts, cutting video, managing outside partnerships, producing newsletters, and more.
-
I took MSNBC Daily, our flagship newsletter, from being sent five days a week to seven days a week.
-
I launched MSNBC's first pop-up newsletter for the 2022 midterm elections, which was led by Steve Kornacki, and I covered that election at 30 Rock.
-
I launched the Deadline: Legal Newsletter, which monitors Supreme Court developments and legal news. I used that experience to create a playbook for launching future newsletters, such as...
-
MSNBC's "How to Win" election newsletter, which tracks campaign developments throughout the 2024 election cycle.
In conclusion, 2021 - 2023 were filled with great opportunities. 2024 is no exception. Thanks to everyone who has been (and will be!) a part of it.
My colleagues Ja'han Jones and Zahara Hill just debuted a new written series for MSNBC called The Reconstruction. Please check it out!
“This ‘History of Black History’ series, written by Ja'han Jones and Zahara Hill in partnership with The ReidOut, seeks to celebrate the audacity of Black people claiming their own narrative, dissect America’s affinity for revisionism and look toward the future of storytelling around race in America.”
