One of my greatest pleasures is teaching. Because in teaching, we learn our limitations and open ourselves to more learning. The past week was a beehive of activities with some of our participants at the Nigeria Media Innovation Program (NAMIP), as we discussed effective ways to use data for editorial planning. Since leaving the Cabal (Big Cabal), I have not had to flex my editorial strategy muscles at a stretch like I did last week and I appreciate the opportunity to do grunt work.

The week-long, engaging sessions, with customized workshops tailored to the unique needs of the participants, wouldn't have been possible without the incredible tutelage of my co-facilitators, Chiedozie Ike, Ashraph Mohammed, and Emmanuel, Faith. GPHR, ACIPM (who shared some tips on using audience data for strategic hiring).

While the bulk of the work for this workshop fell on me and Vivian, the NAMIP team led by Deji Adekunle, including Dara Ajala and Muhammad Dalhatu, have been an incredible set of people to work with, as we continue contributing to the advancement of innovative journalism in the Nigerian media ecosystem.

We are still a long way from where we would like to be, but we are no longer where we used to be, and that's something. As our colleagues in the tech space would say, it's still day one.

I am excited to share that I have officially changed my name to Temitayo Akinyemi (fka Muhammed Akinyemi), after an application at the Ibadan High Court, approved and published in the Nigerian Tribune on July 25, 2024.

This new name best reflects my identity and the person I have become. I look forward to continuing my professional journey under this new name, with the same dedication and passion.

All bylines, awards, contracts, legal documents and media mentions remain valid. Only the name has changed, the person is still the same.

Thank you for your continued support!
