Highlights
D-Day Plus 80 years
Last summer, my husband, Peter Kraft, and I stood on the hallowed ground of Normandy, France, where brave American soldiers fought against tyranny 80 years ago.
We walked the shores of Omaha and Utah Beaches, picturing the courage it took to storm those fortified positions. We stood at Pointe du Hoc, imagining the perilous climb those Rangers made under fire to take out the German bunkers.
We explored the hedgerows that once served as battle lines, and saw the charming towns, churches, and squares that still bear the scars of conflict, a testament to both the destruction of war and the enduring spirit of the French people.
Our journey culminated at the American Cemetery, a place of profound reverence where over 9,300 fallen heroes rest, forever honored for their sacrifice in securing a free world. Their bravery serves as a constant reminder of the cost of liberty, and a powerful message for global leaders today. We must learn from the sacrifices made during World War II, on D-Day and beyond, and strive for a future where such conflicts never occur again.

It was a privilege and a career highlight to interview Mike Milken (Milken Institute) at the #CAISSummit last week. In my research ahead of the session, I was inspired to learn about the many medical philanthropies he and his wife, Lori, have been involved with, funding research into cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Mike is a founding father of modern-day capital markets, and a leader and mentor to many successful businesspeople today, including some of my clients. I highly recommend Mike's book, #FasterCures, which is a memoir of his journey into finance, an intimate discussion around his battle with cancer, as well as promising scientific innovations that could bring an end to many of the world's most severe diseases.
Thank you, Matt Brown (CAIS), for hosting us at your successful event last week.
