Nothing infuriates me more than when colleges hide their true cost from the students and families that are struggling the most to afford them. This Bloomberg article hits it right on the head, showing that over "90% of schools either understate the net price of attendance, or don't include it in financial aid letters."
To hide the ever-increasing cost of tuition, room & board, books, and everything else; our colleges are basically acting like used car salesmen, baiting families with a lower cost then piling on additional expenses as the semesters go on.
Adding insult to injury, the ROI of these expensive colleges aren't living up to expectations, with private and Ivy League schools showing a lower rate of return than public institutions (https://lnkd.in/gFB_cfYk). They're churning out underskilled young adults while continually increasing costs.
If you're angry about the current state of higher-education as much as I am, please reach out to learn more about how PathMatch is laser-focused on upskilling Gen Z outside of the traditional system. The system only changes when we approach mass adoption, and mass anger.

44% of #GenZ say that they are only learning very basic computer skills coming out of college.
In no uncertain terms, that's unacceptable. How can parents continue to justify spending tens of thousands of dollars on college tuition, on an education that doesn't actually prepare their child for today's modern careers?
This isn't limited to smaller, less funded universities. These complaints from Gen Z come from Ivy League schools as well. I've personally mentored and tutored students at top schools who majored in programming and came out only knowing C++.
So this type of gap in true education results in under-skilled graduates who struggle to find work, and desperate companies who have to spend even more to fill their skills gap. Then there is the graduate-to-career mismatch we see so often, leading to half of new employees job hopping to try to find what's really right for them.
The system is broken and failing to help our Gen Z young adults. That's why I created PathMatch, to fill the literal skills gap we're seeing every day.
