Narendar Jain is a distinguished individual with a wealth of experience in the field of agronomy and agricultural research.

He served as a Professor of agronomy at Kanpur University of agriculture, specializing in food crops such as dwarf wheat, hybrid maize, and dwarf rice varieties during a critical period in India's agricultural history, which marked the green revolution.

For over a decade, he held the role of Director at the Tea Research Institute Tocklai in Jorhat, Assam, contributing significantly to the enhancement of scientific methodologies in tea production and processing, thereby boosting the tea industry in North East India.

In 1984, Narendar Jain founded the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology under CSIR and played a pivotal role in its development over the next seven years, positioning it as a leading biological research institution within the CSIR network of 40 labs.

His visionary leadership led to the establishment and growth of the International Society of Tea Science in 1996, initiating a robust publication program that included books and the prestigious International Journal of Tea Science.

His areas of expertise include institute launch and management, crop production, and information technology related to publishing scholarly works.
