Highlights
My favorite thing about planning custom adventure travel trips for Set Forth Adventures is that no two trips are the same.
Of course the logistics of each trip vary a ton (where they're traveling, the types of activities they want to pursue, etc.). However, I've found the variation in clients motivations to be even more interesting and energizing.
Some people travel for the excitement of a world class hike or bike ride, others to relax and unplug. Sometimes, however, there's a bigger purpose to the trips we plan. This was the case for Josh and Daniel Hicks, a father-son duo who spent a week together in Japan last month. Their trip was a celebration of Daniel's high school graduation, and a chance for them to "turn the page" on Daniel's childhood at home before he heads off to college on the opposite side of the country.
It was incredibly rewarding to have Set Forth Adventures be a part of their trip. You can read more about their experience on our site:
Friends, family, and basically everyone I've spoken with in the 10 months since I wrapped up working at Overland Summers know that I've been steadily job hunting for that entire time. Don't get me wrong -- this was not a full-time job hunt: I biked across Europe with Annie Duryea, founded Set Forth Adventures, and moved to beautiful Durango, Colorado.
My job-hunt as been extremely focused -- I've been chasing a leadership role at a mission-driven organization that I am personally passionate about. Being focused, and patient, has (finally!) paid off: on July 1st I'll start as the first Executive Director of the Durango Winter Sports Club! I can't wait to dive into supporting the fantastic work this local nonprofit is already doing, I'm excited to keep expanding the opportunities we offer young people from across the Four Corners region, and I (obviously) can't wait for ski season!
P.S.: Set Forth Adventures is not going anywhere -- reach out any time if you'd like to plan your next dream trip!
