Highlights
Running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday was more miserable, joyful, exhausting, uplifting, brutal and amazing than I ever expected it to be. Other than massively reducing the distance, I have no suggestions for how it could be improved. Twelve runners from The Nudge gave it literally everything they had to successfully cross the finishing line, collectively raising (so far) an amazing £25,000 for The London Community Foundation (a brilliant organisation providing much needed support to small London-based community charities).
Thanks to the London Marathon's organisers, staff and thousands of volunteers; to St John's Ambulance for keeping everyone safe; to the 48,000 runners and all of their friends and loved ones who sponsored and cheered them on; and to the thousands of Londoners who filled every section of the route with cheers, high fives, "power ups" and sweeties.
Special day.
PS There's still time left to sponsor me! If you would like to, the link's in comments below...
London’s an amazing city filled with some of the world’s finest restaurants, bars, supper clubs, museums, galleries, parks and iconic buildings.
But it’s also a city of extreme inequality, with almost 30% of Londoners - including over 600,000 children - living in poverty. So for this reason - along with thirteen other runners from TheNudge.com - I'll be running The TCS London Marathon next Sunday 23rd April on behalf of the amazing The London Community Foundation.
The Foundation supports London’s small community charities and projects. These are the types of charities that are often run by local people who have personal experience of the challenges that they’re helping others overcome – like by running a food bank for those in food poverty; giving local children a fun, safe and supportive environment to head to after school; or by providing companionship to the elderly and lonely. These are also the types of charities and projects that continually struggle to raise funds to support their work (as only 4% of total charitable giving goes to micro charities), and for whom the smallest amounts of money can and will make a direct (and enormous) difference.
If you would consider sponsoring me even the smallest amount to run the marathon on behalf of this very worthy cause, I'd be extremely grateful!
Thank you,
Neil
