Today, the Texas Senate unanimously passed Senator Dawn Buckingham’s SB 672, which will implement Collaborative Care in the Texas Medicaid program. Symptoms of anxiety and depression are up 4X due to COVID’s impacts. Implementing Collaborative Care in primary care settings will lead to earlier identification and treatment of mental illness, while saving taxpayer dollars. The Legislative Budget Board determined billing costs will be offset by reduced hospitalizations and utilization of other services. The result is more efficient and effective outcomes for Texans.
