Let me share a little story from my badminton days that taught me some valuable life lessons. When I was growing up, I dreamed of competing at the provincial and national level in badminton. But here’s the problem: I started later than everyone else, and I was miles away from being a top player. I knew that I needed to train harder than anyone else to catch up. There was just one tiny hiccup – my family and I were pretty broke at the time. We couldn't afford the fancy badminton training and camps like the other top players. So, my dad and I put on our thinking caps and got creative. We transformed our unfinished concrete basement into a makeshift badminton court. We bought some floor tiles to cover that chilly concrete, drew lines on the floor to mimic a real badminton court, and set up a mini net for serves. During the school year, I would train in the basement after classes and on weekends. In the summer, I trained 6 hours a day, 6 days a week – all in that basement. Guess what? It paid off big time. I improved like crazy and even managed to beat some of the top players at the national level. Here's the lesson – while others had more training and resources than me, I outcompete them with my resourcefulness and sheer determination. Now, over 10 years later, you can still find that badminton net and the faded court lines in my family's basement (check out the pics). Moral of the story: You can always find ways to be resourceful, whether in sports or business. You don't need to have the most resources or be in business the longest to succeed. There's always a way to beat out the competition by being resourceful and finding that edge. So, let this be a little inspiration for you today!
