Ngozi Dozie is a co-Founder of Carbon, one of Africa's leading digital banks. In April 2016 carbon ignited the consumer finance revolution in Nigeria, the most promising and challenging market in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the launch of its Carbon app which uses Machine Learning to score thin-file customers in real time. Carbon is a fast growing business, well funded (series A raised $20m in equity & debt) and our talented team of 95 is spread between Lagos, London and Palo Alto.
Ngozi co-founded Nigeria's first distressed equity fund raising $20mm from the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the Work Bank. Through Kaizen Venture Partners Ngozi invested in special situations in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria & Rwanda. Ngozi's has pan-African entrepreneurial experience having co-founded in companies in Agribusiness, Brokerage, Collections, Digital Banking, Quick Service Restaurants, and Retail. In his career he has racked up notable firsts including co-founding Nigeria's first digital lender and most importantly, Cafe Neo which West Africa's largest coffee chain. Ngozi is a global citizen having lived and worked in Lagos, London, Paris, Palo Alto and New York; he is also a French speaker
Ngozi holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Imperial College, a Masters of Science in Computation from Linacre College, Oxford University and Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of Business. He is qualified accountant and a CFA charterholder. Ngozi is happily married to a beauty entrepreneur and together they have three increasingly boisterous sons. In his spare time he is a keen athlete and has competed two Ironman 70.3 races.
