My close college buddy Tom Caceres was hit by a car outside of Dallas last week. Unfortunately, he sustained significant injuries across his entire body — including his arms, legs and his ribs. Thankfully, his spine and brain were not injured, and he was discharged from the ICU on 9/18.
I was able to speak with him last night, and he was in incredibly good spirits for someone whose body has been broken. For anyone who knows him, this is no surprise.
His family have set up a go-fund-me campaign to support his long road to recovery.

A year ago today, we lost my older brother Zan. While Zan struggled for a long time with mental health issues and addiction, he was more importantly an amazing brother, son, uncle and friend.
Today we are mourning his passing, but more importantly we are - as he instructed in his final note to us - again celebrating his life.
I owe more to Zan than I could express, but of the many gifts he bestowed on me were my dark sense of humor, my love of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, and my taste in music.
And so in honor of Zan, my soundtrack today is the mix his co-founder and best friend Dave Nemetz put together to honor Zan’s lifelong obsession with music.
