Three years ago–as we were navigating the "new normal" of life that dealt with the realities of Covid–I left California for Michigan to embark on a journey that I thought would be just graduate school, but turned out to be so much more.

I became a student again, attending class and studying for exams, after nearly a decade of being part of the workforce. I had to learn how to socialize again in small and large groups, after 18 months of hiding away avoiding people. I got to make new friends, build connections with some of the most interesting people I've ever met, and be part of a robust community focused on utilizing the power of business to create a holistically sustainable world.

Now three years and many exams, papers, consulting projects, internships, and experiences later, I'm incredibly proud to say I'm officially a graduate of the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business and University of Michigan- School for Environment and Sustainability!

So many incredible people supported me to make this possible and I'd be remiss not to (attempt) to thank them: Mom and Dad, you've provided all the love and support anyone could ask for and I'm so blessed to be your son. Kendra Crook, thank you for your tough love and ability to help me see the potential I had within myself during the application process. Thank you Elizabeth Wallace and Devika Agarwal for your early support and warmth as I joined the Erb and Michigan communities. Thank you Sara Soderstrom and Stuart L. Hart for sharing your wisdom and knowledge with me and trusting me to be a partner in teaching courses with you. Thank you Lindsey Kilbride, Nathan Jones, Jameela Carnell, and Joshua Tooker for your intentionality in creating impactful internship experiences and providing mentorship along the way that has been nothing short of life-changing. To Jessica Wingert and Katie Kross, thank you for entrusting our team to host ClimateCAP 2024, Terry Nelidov and Charlene Zietsma for your guidance throughout the endeavor, and Sarah Nelson Cohen, Alex Reid, and Nikhil Khurana for being crazy enough to make it happen. And thank you to the whole of the University of Michigan - Erb Institute community, especially Supreya Kesavan & Jillian Brown, for your endless love now and forever.

After taking some time off this summer to explore, reconnect with loved ones, and recharge a bit, I'm so excited to be looking for full-time roles at the intersection of #business and #sustainability – whether that be working with founders to bring climate solutions out of the lab and into the market or managing cross-team projects addressing some of the toughest sustainability challenges businesses have. I've learned so much over the last three years and I can't wait to get started!

It's difficult to put into words my experience planning ClimateCAP 2024 that took place from February 8-10 at the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business. It was 13 months in the making, at times all-consuming, and one of the most challenging but also rewarding experiences of my life. In the end, I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude, especially to my Co-Chairs Sarah Nelson Cohen, Nikhil Khurana, and Alex Reid who kept me sane and brought joy to the work.

Along with 15 other students on the planning team and a small army of student volunteers for the event, we put on the biggest ClimateCAP conference yet with over 500 attendees from nearly 40 different universities and dozens of innovative companies leading the charge on solving climate change.

If you want to check out some of the recordings from the event, they're posted here: https://lnkd.in/eFWFFKUS

I'm thankful for having met and worked with exceptional humans like Fawn Sharp, Darren Riley, Garlin Gilchrist II, Peter Rushford, Stuart L. Hart, Mark Milstein, Kevin Self, Cassandra Martynow, PMP, MBA, including our amazing faculty and staff team Katie Kross, Jessica Wingert, Charlene Zietsma, Sara Soderstrom, Terry Nelidov, and the incomparable Lacy Calzavara with a special appearance by our own Carlotta Pham.

While this is just one of many events bringing together people across the globe, I hope everyone left feeling a bit more connected and hopeful that with a great community behind them, they can make the impact the world so desperately needs now.

Thank you to everyone for coming to ClimateCAP 2024 and we can't wait to see what University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business has in store for next year!
