Our film, "Life After BOB," joins the Criterion Channel!

In 2019 — before programs like Stable Diffusion, GPT, and DALL-E had captured the popular imagination — I started collaborating with the brilliant contemporary artist Ian Cheng on a film about AI.
With my co-producers Veronica So and Ivaylo Getov, we led a group of artists and technologists to create a daring independent feature.
“Life After BOB” joins the Criterion Channel as part of a special program about artificial intelligence, where we are thrilled to be included alongside renowned films such as “Her,” “Ghost in the Shell,” and “2046.” Subscribe and watch it now!
In the coming weeks, I’ll share some behind-the-scenes looks at the work it took to bring our film to life.
I spent the last few years developing, co-producing, and leading story on an independent animated feature. Today it opens at The Shed, New York, where it will play from Sept 10–Dec 19. Hope you can see it on the big screen!
Ian Cheng’s 'Life After BOB' is an episodic anime series built in the Unity game engine and presented live in real-time. It imagines a future world in which our minds are co-inhabited by AI entities. Bridging the artist’s interest in both open-ended simulation and the capacity of cinematic storytelling to evoke deep psychological truths, Life After BOB asks:
What if AI could do the job of living your life better than you?
