- Climate Finance is the new hit, but better definitions and framing are needed.
- Accessing to climate finance – public, private, blended – remains challenging for many lower- and middle-income countries, in a context of fragmented geopolitics which weakens existing multilateral institutions.
- We propose several ways to significantly improve the availability of climate (adaptation...) finance, especially in small island and other vulnerable countries, ahead of the #COP29 and #COP30, including:
- new perspectives for large-scale research infrastructure
- new scenarios for the fair development of smart metering
- a new strategy to gradually phase out (inefficient) fossil fuel subsidies
- The present policy includes two excellent special focus, one on climate disclosure thanks to Agnes Surry and SAYURI Shirai and one on sustainable ocean financing thanks to Michael C Huang
Special thanks to the co-chairs of the T7 Italy Fabrizio Botti, Ettore Greco and Antonio Villafranca
