People who know me understand I have two deep loves outside of my family, friends and dog.

  1. Music 🎶 (as usual I’ll be analyzing Halftime and mostly ignoring football in two weeks) &
  2. Running 🏃‍♀️ The trail run community has given me much, ever since 2002 when I first started trading roads for trails. When I moved to Los Angeles in 2010 it escalated - I met some of those “ultra” people - and got drawn into longer-distance endurance events. I even became friends with people who were part of a tiny population who have finished the legendary Badwater 135 race, a non-stop run through the hottest place on earth in Death Valley, with a climb up Mt Whitney at the finish, known to the global running community as “the world’s toughest foot race.”

Last summer in July 2023, Peloton Interactive Instructor Susie Chan got into Badwater 135 - a dream she had for almost 12 years. We were fortunate that her crew included the amazing director Phil Hill, as the race is run fairly for all runners, with no extra cars, crew members or camera people! Our team collaborated with Phil to film Susie’s journey and share it with our community. You can find it on Bike, Rower and Tread under Entertainment > Peloton Originals and on Scenic on the Tread. If you are not a Peloton Member please check out the 30 min documentary in full on our YouTube channel. Unlike Badwater 135, it flies by. 😬

You’ll get a great sense of Susie’s spirit (“nuts can get f&cked”) 😂 - there goes any future Mr.Peanut sponsorship! And of the power of the Peloton community, hallo Susie’s Striders, who show up in an epic effort of their own creation.

It’s an absolute IV shot of inspiration.

Much gratitude to the extended team across Badwater®️Gwen Bethel Riley Jennifer C.
