Long time listener, first time emotional LinkedIn poster… but this is too important an issue not to pipe up!

As someone who is already cough cough “geriatric” in the eyes of the medical field when it comes to having a baby, and I haven’t yet started that part of my journey… the path to motherhood (or the decision to not have kids!) is far too often met with judgement, criticism and lots of other difficult emotions. When you add on top the fear and confusion that can come with navigating the medical system as it pertains to female health (hell, any medical stuff terrifies me), and the fear and hesitation that comes with wanting to be “X far along in my career” before I try for a baby… I guess I’m not surprised about how stressful this part of being a woman can be.

My hope however is, no matter what your journey, or what bumps you may encounter along your fertility path, that we begin to invest in “femtech” and medical care that is developed with the unique needs of women in mind.

It is an indisputable fact that women have been left behind when it comes to science and medicine. It wasn’t until 1986 that men decided to revisit the exclusion of women in medical research.

It is another fact that investing in femtech and women’s health improved outcomes for all. Fertility challenges impact men too.

So, this isn’t a “woman’s issue,” it’s a human issue. Let’s come together to remove one more point of stress from our lives, and for everything else, let’s commit to more open communication and less judgement along the way. And as someone who wears the geriatric title proudly, I guess I’ll look forward to those handful of extra insurance benefits when my time comes. That’s #myeggsperience, what’s yours?

Proud to support Dina Radenkovic and her team at Gameto as part of their National Infertility Awareness Week #NIAW2024 campaign, who along with designer Stacey Benedet of alice + olivia, and her new brand Big Feelings by alice + olivia who designed these #yourEGGSPERIENCEmatters shirts to raise money for RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association! Let’s demand more from our medical system when it comes to female health! We ALL deserve it 💅
