Noni Session is a Cultural Anthropologist and Grassroots Organizer with a passion for sparking positive change in West Oakland and District 3. As a 3rd generation West Oaklander, Noni's research and organizing efforts have had an impact on both national and global levels. Her academic journey includes studying at University of Zimbabwe, Cornell University, The University of Chicago, and San Francisco State University. Noni's doctoral work in Nairobi, Kenya, focused on analyzing international humanitarian strategies. Following her close call with the Oakland City Council election in 2016, Noni shifted her focus to advocating for an independent cooperative economy as a solution to the issues of rapid displacement and economic instability in her community.
