Dr. Okan KARA is a Venture Capitalist and the Co-founder of ACT Venture Partners, specializing in early-stage European technology ventures.
His extensive experience includes setting up and managing regional operations (EEMEA) of Pera and leading the EUREKA Network in Brussels. He also coordinated EU programs at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.
Dr. KARA began his career as a telecom sector analyst at Telsim, later acquired by Vodafone, demonstrating a diverse professional background.
He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, along with M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Science and Technology Policy focusing on Innovation Economics. Additionally, he obtained an MBA with a specialization in Data Science.
Dr. KARA pursued his MBA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and conducted his Ph.D. and M.S. studies at Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi. He also engaged in Graduate Affiliate Research in Innovation Economics at UCL.
Throughout his career, Dr. KARA has been actively involved in various organizations, such as serving as a Board Member (Observer) for several start-ups like Ambeent Inc., Picus Security, SenpAI.GG, Skysens, DataRow, Botanalytics, and ARDIC. He has also held leadership positions including Managing Director - EEMEA Region at Pera, Chairman of the Executive Board at the EUREKA Network, and Program Coordinator at TUBITAK.
