I am deeply troubled and outraged by a recent incident involving Belev Echad an organization dedicated to helping wounded IDF soldiers. Rabbi Uriel Vigler shared that their attempt to open a new bank account was flatly rejected. The bank's response? "Unfortunately our bank does not have an appetite for this type of business." This outright refusal to engage with a charitable organization supporting veterans is shocking and disheartening.
This incident comes against a backdrop of rising antisemitism, a hateful trend that, according to the World Zionist Organization, is now worse than in the 1930s. Reports indicate a horrifying surge in antisemitic incidents globally, with thousands documented this year alone. In a world where such hatred is facilitated and amplified by social media, it is vital that we stand together against bigotry in all its forms.
Rabbi Vigler reminds us that in the darkest times, dawn is just around the corner. As we face these challenges, let us draw strength from our history and community, striving to add more light to a world shadowed by prejudice. Now more than ever, it is crucial that we stand proudly, increase our commitment to good deeds, and fervently hope for a brighter future.

“Every Hebrew mother should know that she has entrusted the fate of her sons to the hands of the right commanders.” In the wake of our second war for independence, it’s become increasingly clear the caliber of individuals who step up to lead in the IDF. These officers, embodying the ethos of leading from the front, have demonstrated unparalleled commitment and bravery. Tragically, this war has seen the loss of many such frontline commanders, a testament to their dedication to being the first to face challenges head-on. As a former officer, I had the privilege of serving under the leadership of two such remarkable officers and alongside two others who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their courage and selflessness have left an indelible mark on all who knew them. We remember these fallen heroes with profound respect and gratitude. Their memories and legacies continue to inspire us and will undoubtedly endure through the ages.
