Oscar Dubon

Professor and Assoc. Dean, Berkeley Engineering

Oscar Dubón is a distinguished Professor of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) at UC Berkeley and serves as the Associate Dean of Students within the College of Engineering. He is also a respected Faculty Scientist at the renowned Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. With a strong academic background, Oscar obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from UCLA, followed by his Master's and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in Materials Science and Mineral Engineering.

Throughout his career, Oscar Dubón conducted postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley and Harvard University before embarking on his journey as an educator and researcher at Berkeley in 2000. His primary research interests revolve around investigating the correlation between defects and properties in electronic materials, as well as delving into growth mechanisms in semiconductor epitaxy.

Besides his scholarly pursuits, Oscar has held key leadership roles in academia, having previously served as the Vice Chancellor for Equity & Inclusion at UC Berkeley, demonstrating his commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. He has also contributed significantly in shaping the academic experience for students as an Associate Dean in the College of Engineering, further showcasing his dedication to student success and support.
