Pablo Acedo

Professor

Pablo Acedo is a prominent Full Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a respected leader of the Sensor and Instrumentation Techniques Research Group at the Electronic Technology Department.

His research expertise spans the development of advanced optical sources such as Optical Frequency Combs and Dual Optical Frequency Combs, as well as novel spectroscopic techniques used in various fields including biomedicine, environmental engineering, and military applications.

Of particular significance are his contributions to biomedical diagnostics, notably the creation of an instrument for the early detection of vascularization in engraftments for tissue engineering and a non-invasive system for measuring sustained hyperglycemia.

Additionally, Pablo Acedo is recognized for his leadership in knowledge transfer initiatives, having successfully collaborated with companies like INDRA, AIRBUS D&S, LWL, SEAC, among others, to explore the military applications of the optical sources he developed.

He played a key role as a co-founder of the spin-off company Luz WaveLabs (www.luzwavelabs.com) which focuses on commercializing his innovations in photonic synthesis of THz and pulsed optical sources.
