This #Earth Day, I reflect on a pivotal career choice. Shortly after graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology, I received a compelling job offer from a reputable firm in Atlanta, which promised a conventional path in #architecture.
Yet, my commitment to sustainable design drew me toward a different opportunity with John Haymaker at Perkins&Will. When I declined the initial offer, that principal warned, “Pursuing #sustainability will ruin your career.”
I've been inspired by a pithy saying that resonates through time when making efforts towards good but difficult goals - "Right is right, regardless." I chose to forge ahead with my passion for sustainable practices and it's worked out pretty good with cove.tool.
Playing it safe won't save the planet. Taking risks is good for your career too! #earthday
