Highlights

Earlier this month, I left my post as Chief of Enforcement for the Massachusetts Securities Division (and left behind perhaps the best office view in Boston). Just after law school and my admission to the bar, I arrived at the MSD as an eager enforcement attorney looking to commit myself to the work of investor protection and public service. I could not have predicted then the sense of purpose enforcing Massachusetts securities laws would provide, the education I would receive, and that I would make lifelong friends along the way. It has been quite the ride.

Overseeing hundreds of enforcement matters and working with the superb enforcement staff at the MSD has thus far been the highlight of my career. Working complex investigations became a passion of mine and the protection of Massachusetts investors became the focus of my professional life over my nearly nine years at the MSD.

I also had the pleasure and privilege to work with folks across the many jurisdictions of the North American Securities Administrators Association. This work included a wide range of multi-state enforcement actions, work with the NASAA Broker-Dealer Section, and serving as Chair of the Broker-Dealer Arbitration Project Group, which is now in the very capable hands of Cristi Ochoa. I am especially grateful to NASAA for the trainings it provided during my first year on the job, the challenging cases worked with fellow state regulators, and the ongoing talks about policy and trends in the ever-changing field of securities law.

I leave the MSD knowing that the show goes on without me and the good work will continue. First, thank you to Diane Young-Spitzer for all your support and guidance over my tenure at the MSD. Second, thank you to Anthony R. Leone for showing me the ropes and how to navigate blue sky laws when I was a new lawyer.

If you know me well (or perhaps at all), you know I love the holiday season. Spending time with my family and close friends brings me great joy and I wish you all the very same over these next few weeks.

In the meantime, I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career — more on that next week.
