This weekend, I mapped The Metasploit Project Project CVEs to VulnCheck Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEVs) to highlight why weaponized vulnerabilities, like those with Metasploit modules, should be a top priority in your vulnerability management framework.
A few key observations:
- 26% of Metasploit Modules with a CVE map to a Known Exploited Vulnerability
- From 2020 to 2024 (to date), 56% of Metasploit modules have been associated with known exploitation.
- The data shows that 66.6% (443 out of 665) of the Metasploit modules with known exploitation evidence were available on or before the date of the indexed exploitation evidence.
