During the pandemic in 2020, he returned to Malaysia and launched several successful restaurants, including The KamCheng in Malacca (December 2020), KC & Co., and Wood & Grill.

At The KamCheng, Chia focuses on authentic Peranakan flavors while incorporating innovative techniques like grilling with keruing wood for unique smoky aromas. His signature dishes include Lemak Lamb Shank, Nyonya chicken chop, and Pineapple Prawn Curry.
