Highlights
Was it already a week ago that we were wrapping up the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity?
I’ve been taking some time to reflect on a wonderful week and, as Philip Thomas said in his post, it’s been great reading all the summaries and reflections from the Festival.
The overriding theme is one of optimism - a more comprehensive, inclusive event that has fostered moments of joy, celebration, connection, opportunity, learning, reflection and doing business. Of course, as always, tempered by learnings and opportunities for the future.
This is my first Cannes Lions since Simon Cook and I brought Ascential’s family of marketing brands together under the LIONS banner. And my overriding feeling is one of gratitude for all the incredible work of our teams across Cannes Lions, WARC, Contagious and Acuity Pricing (formerly Brand View) - together with our partners, clients and wider community, you made this the best Cannes Lions yet.
So, this is a thank you.
👌 Thea Skelton and her wonderful team did a exceptional job in making the event happen - brilliant execution across all of our Awards, Partnerships, Ops, Content, the School, City and functional teams ✨ Ilaria Pasquinelli and the Marketing / Creative team delivered work that belonged at the Home of Creativity 🌍 Frank Starling and his team, together with our partners - in particular through the ERA (Equity, Representation, Access) Programme - have made a demonstrable impact on making Cannes Lions ever more inclusive. This is just the start.
Our teams from across the wider LIONS business showed up in force.
🏫 Paul Kemp-Robertson hosted the launch of LIONS eLearning and the Creative MBA, led by Jenni Middleton and team. And introduced other new courses with Dr. Marcus Collins, James Hurman and Karen Nelson-Field PhD 💻 Gaelle Comte and The Work crew showcased LIONS digital platform in the Palais, alongside presentations both live and on the Digital Pass with Dina Elrayyes ➡ Nicola Tillin, David Tiltman and the WARC team brought a focus to marketing effectiveness via the WARC x LIONS Creative Impact track and across the Festival - helping to attract more brands than ever (and Mark Ritson!) 💥 Patrick Jeffrey and team brought Contagious to the Festival both at their Villa and in the Palais with the "How to Win a Lion in 2029" Talk 🔢 Sophie Bailey discussed the importance of Pricing with CMOs and, as with Ed Pank and Ed Davidson, researched new propositions for ‘25. 💡 Our Advisory teams, led onsite by Spencer Fox, Imaad Ahmed and James W., engaged with our community in the Brand Village, the GLOBAL CMO GROWTH COUNCIL and beyond.
Huge thanks to all and, of course, to our clients, partners and the wider community.
Check out the WARC, Contagious and Cannes Lions social channels for their quick fire wrap-ups of the Festival now and next week.
As a new Cannes Lions year begins, our mission continues across all our platforms to champion creative marketing that matters.
