Friends, It's time for my annual health update and rally for support for this year’s Parkinson Super Walk, which takes place Saturday, September 12th (virtually this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic). It’s been 2.5 years since I underwent Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery and it continues to make life easier and more manageable. However, my speech difficulties have increased, which is extremely frustrating. For much of the year, I worked with a speech pathologist and did find some relief and coping mechanisms. The symptoms on the other (left) side of my body have continued to develop. Unfortunately, the DBS surgery I had in April 2018 does not influence the left side of my body at all, but a second surgery is not advisable given it would likely lead to dementia. Living with Parkinson’s continues to be a daily struggle for me and my family. Therefore, it is a cause I get behind – without hesitation – every autumn. Help me raise money to find a cure, so that future generations might see Parkinson’s as a disease of the past. Click the link below, and you'll receive a tax receipt by email. Thank you!
