With a strong foundation in academia, Paul pursued his education with a Post Doc focusing on the use of Phage Display to examine autoimmune diseases at UC San Diego School of Medicine, a Ph.D. in Neutralizing Antibodies and HIV at Dublin City University, and a B.Sc. in Biotechnology, also at Dublin City University.

Throughout his career, Paul Roben founded Target Protein Technologies, Inc., a biotechnology company in California, dedicated to the development of tissue-targeted pharmaceuticals. He played a crucial role in managing research programs and securing financing from various sources.
