Pauline Eveillard

President + Founder of SOUKRA, mission-driven entrepreneur

Pauline Eveillard is the President and Founder of SOUKRA, an e-commerce platform that connects international tastemakers with home decor and fashion from Tunisia’s young designers.1 She is a mission-driven entrepreneur who launched the business in 2010 as Fouta Lifestyle, initially importing and e-retailing Tunisian foutas.1 The company was later relaunched as SOUKRA in Fall 2017.1

Eveillard lived in Tunisia as a Fulbright fellow, which ignited her entrepreneurial spirit and allowed her to establish connections there.1 She worked at the World Monuments Fund (WMF) before launching her own business.1 At WMF, she launched a young members group and revitalized a travel program for high-level donors.1

Eveillard's goal with SOUKRA is to celebrate Tunisia and its community of talented entrepreneurs that is growing since the Arab Spring.1 SOUKRA provides access to contemporary home decor and fashion made in Tunisia, offering a platform for designers and creative entrepreneurs to share Tunisian culture.1 The company focuses on Tunisian designers who use traditional methods and materials to create modern products.1 SOUKRA also participates in wholesale and in-person events.1

According to SOUKRA’s website, Eveillard, a New York City native, lived in Tunisia as a J. William Fulbright Program U.S. Student Fellow in Art History.2 She continues to visit Tunisia to foster relationships with entrepreneurs and explore the stories behind Tunisian products and people.2 The name Soukra is inspired by the Tunis suburb La Soukra, where many of Eveillard’s friends grew up.24

Eveillard has been interviewed by NATFLUENCE, a platform for business leaders and entrepreneurs.5 She was also featured in Remodelista.5 The Asian Art Museum notes that Eveillard is the C.E.O. of SOUKRA, connecting Tunisian designers with collectors globally.3

Her educational background includes:

  • The Hewitt School (1987-2001)1
  • Tufts University (BA, Art History and Latin, 2001-2005)1
  • University of Chicago (MA, Art History, 2007-2008)1

Eveillard has also received a Fulbright Award, the American Express Leadership Academy award, and the Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award from Tufts University.1
